We care about what happens at Castle Mill - so much so that we've given up careers to save the boatyard and get a decent build on this site.
Directly after the planning inspector dismissd the Bellway plans we tried to get other developers into make life easier for BW.
We asked Bio Regional to make an approach. They were known for their award winning Bed Zed eco-development. Bio Regional even went so far as to send one of their top architects from Fielden Clegg to look at the site and chat to us.
They came up with a design that included a boatyard in it. (see below)
BW it was reported back to us said 'no thanks, we only deal with 'favoured developers' and have a sealed bid system'. Bio Regional were understandably pretty upset at being flicked off when there was such a potential win win win opportunity and we lost an imaginative development that Jericho would have been proud of and not one made by profiteering box shifters.
Other plans
The Ruskin society have come up with an imaginative plan that we understand is going through Oxford City planning department around now (3rd March 2007).
